I have fond memories of playing with Kathie when we were in our early teen years on Byford Blvd in Endwell.

It was like a knife in my gut to hear that Kathie had died. She was a childhood friend of mine on Byford Blvd. There was only one house between us, and she and I, plus 3 other neighborhood girls (including my sister, Lisa) were inseparable during our pre-teen and early teen years. We played in the woods behind our houses and in the creek at the bottom of Highland Park hill. Kathie had an old klunker bike that all 5 of us could fit on (one on the handlebars, one on the seat, two on the back fender, and one standing to pedal). We would fly down the street until the pedaller lost her balance and we all tumbled over. Such fun!
Kathie sometimes had the responsibility of caring for her toddler niece, Heather, and I remember how good she was with her, always watching out for her safety.
In 1973 my family moved to California and I never saw Kathie again. I wish now that we had kept in touch. I will always remember Kathie as a good friend and an important part of my childhood.
