Gustav Nagy Jr., age 94, husband of the late Cecelia Klubnik Nagy, passed away on Monday, November 30, 2020. Born and raised in Bridgeport, son of the late Gustav Nagy Sr., and Maria Bohan Nagy, Gustav had been a Bridgeport resident for many years before moving to West Haven several years ago. He was a Veteran of WWII, serving in the Marines in the Pacific Theatre with the 6th Marine Division during the battle of Okinawa. He later went on to his career with the Bridgeport Fire Department, retiring in 1982 as a Provisional Lieutenant. In 1952, Gus became a Master Mason for the Free Mason Society in the Saint John's Fidelity Lodge #3, and was faithful for 68 continuous years. He was honored by the Shriners and the Firemen's Square Club for saving the life of a woman from a burning building in 1967. Gus enjoyed his retirement years traveling to Scotland with his companion Irene and loved to make his yearly trips to California and Las Vegas to visit his sister Polly and his nieces and nephews. Enjoying winters in Florida, he resided in Saint Peterburg from 1993 to 2013, and always looked forward to socializing with his many friends. He is survived by his sister in law Virginia Nagy, his many nieces and nephews from Connecticut to New Jersey to Kansas to Las Vegas to California, as well as, his longtime companion Irene Holodnak and her family who were very close. Gus was predeceased by his brother Frank Nagy Sr., and sisters Maryann Nagy, Irene Kicska, Helen Nagy and Virginia Polly Binkley. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 am in the Lesko & Polke Funeral, 1209 Post Road, in Fairfield Center. His burial will follow in Mountain Grove Cemetery with full Military Honors. There will be no prior calling hours. His family would prefer memorial contributions made to: Alzheimers Assiociation (ALZ.org).
