My deepest condolences to Jay's family. I was on the Stratford Town Council when Jay was Finance director for the Town of Stratford, and I truly appreciated his patience with me when I didn't understand certain budget items. He was a true professional and a great gentleman.

I am so sad that Jay is gone. He was my tax man for the past 7 years. After my husband passed away, I found Jay to be a understanding and a good friend. I could ask for his tax advise. When I was Audited , nervous as I was, he completely took over, and resolved the problem in such professional manner. I miss him a lot. May God bless his precious Soul, and he rest In Peace in heaven. Many condolences to his beautiful Family & friends.

I knew Mr. Wahlberg when he was the Controller for Ridgefield. He had helped my father and I during some difficult times. Mr. Wahlberg was a mentor for me growing up, tutoring me for a summer and later writing me a letter of recommendation for Pepperdine University. Not only was he our accountant for many years, he was a friend of our entire family. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Wahlberg family during this difficult time.
Sincerely,
Darrick Lin & the Lin family

I first met Jay in 1993 at hospitality suite in NH during a GFOA conference when suddenly a man turned around trying to pop a piece of cheese in my mouth. It was Jay and for a brief moment he thought I was Marlene. That loving gesture intended for his wife said a lot about what was important to Jay and the laugh we shared over the mistake was one of so many we shared over the ensuing years. He was a good, kind soul and will be missed greatly.
Marlene: Frank and I are so very sorry to learn of your loss and will keep you and your family in our prayers as you navigate this difficult period. We miss you as well.

Dear family of Jay,
He was my accountant for 20 years. He ALWAYS looked out for my best interest. It felt like Jay was an uncle in some ways. Answering my calls, calming my fears as a broke, single mother of two boys. He was a blessing to me and I will never forget his kindness and guidance. May he Rest In Peace TIL we cross paths in Heaven again. Prayers of comfort for you all, his family and staff.

Jay was a true gentleman and a consummate professional who I had the pleasure of knowing for eighteen years as my both my personal accountant and as my co-worker in Stratford. His pleasant and low key demeanor and pragmatic approach to financial problems served as a steadying guide for all. I was always truly amazed at how Jay was able to balance time for his family, for the many municipal finance director positions he held durIng his long career, and his private accountancy practice.
He was very proud of his three children, and his lovely wife Marlene who worked at his private practice for many years. The Town of Stratford has suffered a huge loss, and it will be no easy task to find a replacement with the many years of municipal finance experience, and pragmatic approach to problems that Jay practiced during his years with the town.
Jay will be greatly missed by his family, co-workers, and clients. May he Rest In Peace.

We were shocked to hear of Jay's passing. He was a man that took chaos and calmed the seas of anxiety during tax season. More than that, Jay and Marlene became our close friends and we really enjoyed their company, loved all his stories...we laughed for hours. Marlene may your happy and loving memories comfort you through this tough time...
RIP Jay Wahlberg

Jay and I met in 1959 where we both attended The University
School, a small private high school in Bridgeport. Jay was always fun, smart and always a good friend and good Catholic. .
Marlene was my best friend and while on an outing with some classmates Marlene and Jay met. I think he fell for her immediately because the next day at school Jay asked for Marlene's phone number. I couldn't think of a better couple together.
My heart is broken to hear of his passing. Marlene my love and prayers are with you and your family now and always.
Carol (Penny Niedermeier) O'Brien.

I have known Jay for many years as a friend and client. I was first introduced to Jay by my 97 year old father, Robert Porter, who is currently in Naples, FL. You could not meet a more pleasant and friendly guy than Jay. I don't think I ever heard him raise his voice in anger. He was a consummate professional and I always told him that he was an inspiration to me as he was still going strong in his seventies while performing TWO jobs as a finance director while also running his accounting practice. At the same time I know he loved his family very much and would spend as much time as possible with them. He was a gentleman in the truest sense of the word and will sorely be missed.
