Obituary of Norma Sanzone

Norma Muzio Sanzone, age 93, of Fairfield, beloved wife of Salvatore Sanzone, passed away on Sunday, December 15, 2019. Born and raised in New York City, daughter of the late Caesar and Noemi Muzio, Norma had been a Fairfield Town resident for six years, but she spent most of her adult life in Westchester County, New York. In addition to Salvatore, her loving husband of 67 years, she leaves behind her son, Steven Sanzone and his wife Trish of Fairfield, daughter Susan Sanzone Fauver and her husband Scribner of Meriden, NH., grandchildren Nicolas Sanzone, Mitchell Hoffert, Olivia and Margaret Fauver, sister Rita MacGregor of Pine Bush, NY as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Michael Sanzone and her brothers Andy, Jules and Rudy Muzio. Norma graduated from Washington Irving High School in New York City in 1943. As a young woman, she worked as a dressmaker and designer at Nathan Crauskov Children's Wear in New York City. Norma loved traveling the world with her beloved husband Sal, especially to her ancestral home in northern Italy. The daughter of a chef in New York City, she was an accomplished cook in her own right; her holiday meals were legendary. She was known for her no-nonsense wisdom and was sought after for both recipes and advice. Norma was a fiercely devoted wife, mother, aunt, sister and grandmother who would do anything for her family. She will be deeply missed and forever loved. Viewing hours will be held at the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Rd., Fairfield Center starting at 10 am on Saturday December 21, followed by a memorial service at 12:30.
