Obituary of Iancu Bica

Iancu Bica, age 89, of Bridgeport, beloved husband of Andronica Babu Bica, passed away on Monday, June 3, 2019.

Born in Shabla, Bulgaria, Iancu had lived in Romania for many years and served in the Romanian Army.  He and his family emigrated  to the United States in 1992 and had lived in Bridgeport since then. He was a devoted member of St. Dimitrie Orthodox Church and could be seen there on most Sundays, as well as the Holy Brancoveanu Martyrs Romanian Orthodox Church.

Iancu loved life and lived it to the fullest, he was quick to celebrate any occasion with his family and friends. More than anything, he loved to spend time with his family. A loving husband, father and grandfather, he will be greatly missed.

In addition to Andronica, his wife of 60 years, survivors include his sons, Costel Bica and his wife Liliana of Shelton, Cristian Bica and his wife Raluca of Bridgeport, Dumitru Zdralea and his wife Mirela of Trumbull and Marian Bica and his wife Elena of Monroe. He leaves behind his grandchildren Andronica and Iancu Bica, Maria, Carmen and Cristian Bica Jr. and George and Mihai Zdralea and Alexandra Bica. Also his sisters in law Florica Geambazu, Olimpia Dumitru and Vasilica Ianus , a brother in law Nicolae Ianus as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Cornelia Zdralea.

Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 am directly at the Holy Brancoveanu Martyrs Romanian Orthodox Church, 554 Tunxis Hill Rd., Fairfield with burial to follow in Lakeview Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 4-8 pm in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Rd., Fairfield Center. The Trisagion service will be at 6 pm.
