Obituary of Joseph Mikan

Joseph Mikan, age 60, of Ansonia, passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2019. 

Born in Bridgeport on January 7, 1959, son of the late Miroslav and Maria Us Mikan, Joseph lived in Bridgeport before moving to Ansonia one year ago. Joseph was a free spirit exuding positive energy. He loved socializing, making new friends, and putting smiles on people’s faces came easy to him.

Joseph loved walking and enjoyed watching old movies, and history was his favorite past time. He loved his daughter, Celia, very much, as well as his nieces and nephews. Joey was witty, had a good sense of humor, and had a heart of gold. 

He took great pleasure in visiting family and friends, like his dear friend, Thelma. When Joey was young, he enjoyed fishing and our dog, Brownie. Most of all, Joseph enjoyed eating treats; where sugar or anything sweet was a staple. 

Survivors include his siblings, Anthony Mikan, Helen Kali, Mark Mikan, Thomas Mikan, Denise Millet, John Mikan, Frank Mikan, Anna Mikan, and Greta Mikan; his daughter, Celia Aita; two grandchildren, Amelie and Damian; uncles, Frank, Pete, and Valta; aunts, Stefanie and Teta Vera; and plenty of cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Miroslav Mikan and his mother, Maria Mikan 

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, April 4, 2019 from 5-8 pm in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, in Fairfield Center. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 5, 2019 at 10:00 am directly at Holy Cross Church, 750 Tahmore Drive, Fairfield.  

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made towards the needs of the family.
