We were so shocked and saddened by Marlene’s passing. Marlene was a joy. Not sure how we met but it was an instant connection. My daughter Julie babysat for Nikki and Lauren, went as their sitter to the Dominican Republic, and got bitten on her 16th birthday by Liza! Youngest daughter Lauren then babysat. When she told Marlene she was earning money to go to Hawaii for a summer trip, Marlene gave her all the frequent flier miles. Vacationing with Marlene and George in their Florida home was a blast. On January 31st Marlene sent me a long email tellling me about Nikki, Lauren and each grandchild in detail. Love and joy flowed through each sentence. She was looking forward to her 70th birthday. We send our love to George, Lauren, Nikki. May Marlene’s memory always be a source of comfort and example.

My mom was the love of my life. Attached at the hip since birth, we did everything together. A 100,000 miles on my car and she was there for most of them. Road trips, concerts, moves to new states, musicals, traveling...we did it all. Talking multiple times throughout the day was our norm. No matter how much we talked there was always something more to say.
With that being said, she was an incredible mother, best friend and grandmother. My mom was magnanimous, beautiful and full of life. Everything she did, she excelled at and then some. She was incredibly talented and humble. The most authentic person I know, she loved with everything she had. She is truly irreplaceable. I will miss her forever.

Marlene was precious, vivacious and a truly wonderful friend. She was so positive, her cup was always half full. When you were around her, the air was filled with joy, respect, and graciousness. Marlene was so talented. Her quilts will be a daily remembrance of her creativity, especially the beautiful wedding quilt she made for Lou and me.
She was like a sister, friend for almost 40 years and we were honored to have her participate in our wedding. We were also close neighbors through the years sharing holidays and everyday life experiences with Nikki and Lauren. We had the most delightful times together sharing events, holidays BBQ’s, exchanging gifts and all life experiences. Marlene and her family will always remain part of our lives. Being with Marlene was a joy.
Marlene will be missed. We will continue enjoying her recipes, especially chocolate cream pie, her style of entertaining and her graciousness. She was a gem that will never be replaced and will always be remembered with love.
Marianne & Lou

Marlene, my younger sibling, was the love of my life, from the day she was born until her untimely passing. When she was brought home from the hospital, me, the big brother was so thrilled and got to feed her, her bottle and hold her. She grew up in San Francisco, and I remember when she was about 11 years old, I had won a bronze horse at a game concession at Playland at the Beach and gave it to her, because of her love of horses. You would have thought I gave her a million dollars. Although I left home at age 18 to serve in the military, we constantly stayed in touch. I came home after my discharge, married my lovely wife, Susie, raised a family of 3 boys. When we lost our middle son, Chris, to an accident, Marlene called immediately, and although she could not fly out for the service, she stayed in constant contact with us. Every year on the anniversary of his passing, she was always the first one to either call or write the most beautiful memories of Chris and how sad she was for us to lose a child. She had a heart of gold. I loved her dearly and with her passing a big hole has been left in my heart. We will go on, as she would have wanted, but it will never be the same. Until the day we again meet up, rest in peace my beautiful sister, you deserve it. Shalom, Raba. Always and ever your big brother, Gary

No candle burns more brightly with love and joy than Marlene! I so treasure the time you took to spend time with me before we moved to California. Your wondrous zest for life is a gift you have given to all who knew you. In loving memory of you I will endeavor to live my life to be as warm and positive and giving as you were! Rest in peace my dear friend. Though I will miss you sorely, you will live always in my heart.

I am grateful to have shared all of our time together and there is now a void in our home.
It is now my impossible job to explain to the grandchildren how much you loved them. Your love for them and your entire family is truly unconditional. We will always miss you!
