Carol Dube Courcier Obituary

Carol Courcier

1938-2024

Carol Dube Courcier passed on December 15, 2024, with family by her side; has taken her place in heaven to rest in eternal peace. Carol was born in

Brattleboro Vt. on January 6, 1938, to Michael Angelo Dube Sr., and Beulah Hefflon Dube, where she attended and graduated from the St. Michael's Catholic High School in Brattleboro. She later moved to Bridgeport, Ct. with her parents, three brothers, Michael, Steve, Jack, and sister Babe, where she met and married Charles E. Hartley Jr. and had three sons: Scott, Michael Brian, and Charles E. Hartley Ill.

In 1966, Carol met and married Edward G. Courcier, adding to her family of three sons, his seven children: John, James, Diane, Richard, Lucille, Denise, and Anne; now parents of ten children, a brave woman indeed. The family moved to Severna Park, Md., where aside from being a mother to ten, she also pursued her career in nursing, working at several hospitals in the Baltimore, Md. area and throughout New England, giving care in several areas of medicine, including coronary care, psychiatric, addiction, and private duty.

In her early 50s, Carol decided to go west to CA to obtain a master's degree in spirituality; she studied at Oakland University's Center for Religious Understanding. While studying, she found a strong connection to Native American beliefs. While at the University she was there for the devastating 1989 Bay Area earthquake, being the caregiver she was, she went out with other students to give aid and comfort to those in need.

Carol is survived by her son Scott Hartley, stepchildren Diane, Richard, Lucille, Denise, and Anne, her loving sister-in-law Jeannie, and dear friend Cathy, along with many other family members and cherished friends. On behalf of the family, we would like to thank Aimee and all the special caregivers for their love and compassion, a true blessing.

Carol was predeceased by her husband Edward G. Courcier, her two sons Brian and Charles Ill, and their father Charles Hartley Jr, stepsons James and John Courcier, brothers Jack, Steve and Michael Dube, and sister Babe Ann Ripke. Mom, you will remain in our hearts forever!
