Obituary of Anthony Valenti
Anthony "Tony" Valenti, 84, of Westport, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Thursday, December 19, 2024, at St. Vincent's Medical Center.
Anthony was born on November 30, 1940, in the Bronx, New York, to Vito and Angelina (Petracco) Valenti and spent his childhood there along with his sister, Marguerite. Anthony was a dedicated and accomplished student. He attended Stuyvesant High School before pursuing civil engineering at City College. He later earned an MBA from St. John's University, achievements that paved the way for a distinguished career. Anthony worked for over three decades as an executive with IBM, contributing his expertise both in the United States and Europe, allowing him to travel the world.
Anthony shared a loving marriage of 61 years with his devoted wife, Eileen (Breihof). Together, they raised a close-knit family in the town of Westport, Connecticut, which included their three daughters: Theresa Valenti-O'Neill of Fairfield, Connecticut; Lynn Morley (Steve) of Darien, Connecticut; and Jennifer Valenti-LaFalce (David) of Fairfield, Connecticut—and six beloved grandchildren: Jarod LaFalce, Sofia LaFalce, Taylor O'Neill, Ava Morley, Jack Morley, and Hunter Morley. He is additionally survived by his loving sister, Marguerite Frenz, of Montvale, New Jersey, and numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Family was very important to Anthony, and he always looked forward to family gatherings. He cherished every moment with his grandchildren, always their loudest fan at sporting events and proudest supporter at dance and music recitals. Anthony was always there for his loved ones, both celebrating their successes and helping them through hardships.
A lifelong Yankees fan, Anthony delighted in following his favorite team throughout the years. He spent many years lobstering and fishing on his boat and playing golf with friends. He was also an active tennis player and a member of the Y's Men of Westport and the Oak Lawn Cemetery Board, where he built enduring friendships and gave back to his community. On sunny days, he liked taking long drives in his convertible or enjoying a meal at one of his favorite restaurants. Above all, he loved connecting with people. He had a deep appreciation for a good life story and could often be found engaging in hours-long conversations, exchanging experiences and sharing wisdom.
Anthony will be fondly remembered for his unwavering commitment to his family, his professional achievements, and his zest for life. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
