Obituary of Helen Bansak

Helen Kielbus Bansak, age 89, a longtime resident of Fairfield, devoted wife of 58 years to the late Edmund J. Bansak, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2017 in Danbury, Connecticut. Helen's memory will be embraced by her two children: daughter, Joan Florczak of Easton along with her devoted partner Jack Baldaserini, son Edmund Bansak, of Wales, MA; her grandchildren, Cheryl Pontonio and her husband Anthony, of Monroe, Kristin Dugan and her husband Steven, of Oxford, Sarah Bansak and her husband Spencer Allen of Los Angeles, CA, and Amber Bansak also of Los Angeles, CA; her cherished great-grandchildren, Mackenzie and Dylan Pontonio and Ashleigh Dugan; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her beloved husband Edmund, she was predeceased by her parents, Andrew and Julia Lepufska Kielbus; siblings, Frank, Casmir, Joseph, Benjamin, and Stanley Kielbus, Stephanie Kosar, and Mary Krivak; and a son-in-law, William Florczak. Born and raised in Yonkers, New York, Helen moved to Fairfield, Connecticut as a teenager where she met her husband. An accounting clerk, Helen worked for the Accounts Payables Department at D. M. Read's (now Macy's) for over 25 years before her retirement. She loved reading, cooking, spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and traveling with her husband and their close friends. A parishioner of Assumption Church for many years, she was a woman of strong faith and was truly kind hearted. Friends may visit with her family on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 from 9:30-11:30 AM at the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, in Fairfield Center. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 PM in Assumption Church, 545 Stratfield Road, Fairfield with the interment to follow in Lawncroft Cemetery.
