Marilyn Koval Barbetta, age 85, of Fairfield CT, passed away on Sunday, December 15, 2024.
Marilyn is survived by her husband of 59 years, Vincent F. Barbetta, her daughter and son-in-law Karen and Alvaro Anillo, her daughter and son-in-law Julie and Terrence Parker, her son Joseph Barbetta, her brother and sister-in-law Michael and Kathy Koval, her grandchildren Cristina, Joseph, and Erika, and many family members and friends.
Marilyn was born to Peter and Anna Koval in Ansonia, CT. She was a proud cheerleader at Ansonia High School and the University of Connecticut. Marilyn's career as a physical therapist took her to New York City and later to the Masonic Home in Connecticut. Her passions included singing, performing, and competing with The Harmony on the Sound Chorus, a member of Sweet Adelines International. She was also a member of the St. Thomas of Aquinas Church choir. She volunteered with Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) and the American Cancer Society, driving patients to their treatments. Marilyn was an active supporter of her family church in Ansonia, Three Saints. She enjoyed researching family genealogy with several trips to Italy and Poland.
Calling hours for Marilyn will take place on Friday, December 20 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Lesko Funeral Home, located at 1209 Post Road, Fairfield Center. Services will continue on Saturday, December 21 at 10:00 am at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Fairfield. Marilyn will be laid to rest at Oaklawn Cemetery immediately following her funeral mass.
