Dear Adrienne & Family, Dave and I were so sorry to hear of the news of Barry's passing. He was a wonderful human being. We so enjoyed your warm reception to us as new neighbors in the "Pig Barn" next to your Fresh Water Farm in Wilton. It was a pleasure getting to know you and Barry and sharing good food and great conversations that would take place in each others homes. The last meal we shared together was on your lovely patio just before we moved. We so enjoyed Barry's creativity and discussions about art and his time spent in that world. Dave and I are richer for having known Barry and you. You and your your family will continue to be in our prayers and thoughts as we reminisce.
Best to you,
Much love and Blessings.
Dave and Glenda Reid

My dear neighbors Barry and Adrienne moved in a few years back, and quickly enlightened this woodsy corner of Wilton in so many wonderful ways! The land they took over came to life, with beautiful native plantings; stewarded with so much love and care. Barry also took his gardening talents to Ambler Farm, where he volunteered frequently. Such a giving spirit! Over the years I heard snippets of the many contributions Barry made; encouraging artists everywhere, and using his creative genius to inspire so many. We will certainly miss Barry's energetic, optimistic spirit. A toast to you Barry!!!

Such kind words, and YOU know how much Barry valued and truly enjoyed your being our neighbor. Exactly what we hoped for when we moved to Wilton! What fun we had -- even pulling the wretched knotweed out between our properties was done with good energy, all of us together determined to transform a big weed patch into a beautiful spot. You and he possess the same generous spirit, so readily giving of yourselves to help others, so I know you are a kindred soul. Thank you always.

I had the pleasure of meeting Barry three years ago and was instantly taken by his engaging personality. It was clear that this was a man who was engaging with the world around him. A man of many layers, it took not a little time to try and piece his history together. His easygoing personality, talents, and of course his ready smile, would set the table for conversation on myriad topics. As a visitor to Wilton, I looked forward to seeing Barry and Adrienne each visit to enjoy conversation over a meal and a glass of wine. Barry had a healthy appetite for life and a pretty good one at the table too.
It was clear that B&A, as they became known to me, cared deeply for each other. One could easily finish the other’s sentence and seemed so in tune with each other. I know that when we heard the news about Barry’s illness, it was a blow to us all. Barry did his best to march forward in the face of an unfair situation and inspired those around him to put the emphasis on what matters most in life.
I will miss Barry and will always remember him, his thoughtfulness and of course his big smile. I offer my heartfelt condolences to Adrienne and the family. I know it won’t be the same when I visit Wilton but look forward to sharing more memories of Barry with Adrienne and raising a glass to Barry; he would appreciate that.
With lots of love,
John

Thank you so very much for your thoughtful message and offering your impressions of Barry as you got to know him. He really, really enjoyed your company, too, and any time you were visiting here, he looked forward to those casual meals together and a glass of wine. You've added a lot to our treasured memories. Much love.

Living in Toronto and still becoming such a good friend to a man in Connecticut, as if he were your next door neighbor. That is dedication and true friendship. It is so admirable. Clearly you were appreciated and loved in return. God bless the continuing memory of the time you spent together.
