February 19, 1951 – September 23, 2024
Robert Harmon "Bob" Linder, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on September 23, 2024. Born in Columbia, South Carolina, Bob was raised in Bronxville, New York, where he graduated from Bronxville High School in 1969. An outstanding athlete, he was a Westchester Interscholastic Conference All-Star and All-American in football, earning him a full scholarship to the University of Rhode Island. There, he continued to excel on the field as an All-Yankee Conference player and graduated in 1973 with a degree in business.
During his time at URI, Bob not only made his mark as a formidable football player but also forged lifelong friendships with a close-knit group of classmates. These friendships became a cornerstone of his life, filled with shared memories, annual reunions, and unwavering support that lasted over five decades
Bob's professional journey began in Houston where he held various positions until he joined Tishman Speyer in 1986 as a property manager. His dedication and hard work led him to oversee prestigious properties throughout New York City before he culminated his career as the General Manager of Connecticut properties. As a Certified Property Manager and member of the Building Owners and Managers Institute International, Bob was recognized for his excellence by being named Portfolio Manager of the Year in 2004 by the Real Estate Board of New York.
A resident of Fairfield, Connecticut, for 36 years. Bob cherished time spent with his family and loved swapping stories with old friends. He was a man of many interests - golfing, home improvement projects, political discussions, watching football, and finding solace reading on the beach.
Some of Bob's happiest moments included learning he was to become a grandfather, laughing with friends at "The Big Chill" reunions, cross-country road trips, watching University of Texas football games, beach vacations, and perfecting the art of frying the Thanksgiving turkey.
Bob is survived by his wife of 43 years, Karen Dill; his loving children, Cody and Spencer and daughter-in-law Allison; and his cherished grandson. He also leaves behind his sisters-in-law, Mary Linder and Pam Dill, and numerous nieces and nephews who adored him. He was predeceased by his parents, Marjory and Dr. Francis T., and his siblings, Frederick, Francis T., Jr., and Patricia Ann Porta.
Bob will be remembered for his good sense of humor, unwavering faithfulness, loving spirit, and tireless work ethic. His legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
A memorial Mass will be held Friday, October 4, at 10:45 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Bronxville, New York.
