Mr. Tom and Ms. Gloria as we affectionately called them are so very near and dear to our family in just a short span of time. We were immediately embraced by Ms. Gloria when her and a friend came into our restaurant on one unforgettable Sunday afternoon, after morning worship service. And the bond grew swiftly!
In such a short time we have so many memories to bask on. Mr. Tom came into the restaurant one day and we hit it off right then and there, he would later on say to Ms. Gloria that he had to go visit Tammy for some food. (And that became our thing) as he also stated to her if he could get there on his own he would go more frequently haha.
Ms. Gloria, would call or come in and say Tam do you have some peach cobbler or dessert for Tom because he keeps asking me to bring him over.
These are just a very few things I am going to miss and especially His Huge Heart and Most important to see the absolute Love he had for his wife. They were truly the empitome of black love and a long lasting marriage. A great example of what marriage is and suppose to look and minic like.
We are going to miss you dearly Mr. Tom rest in peace.
Ms. Gloria, we are here as always for you and if you need absolutely anything please let us know and we will be there!!
Lookout for me because I am coming to check on you!! Praying your strength, peace, and comfort in this very difficult time.
Love you so very much,
The McCree Family

We moved from N.J. To the Pocono’s in 2007 where we met Tom & Gloria through another neighbor,, they lived 1 house away...They grew on us like family real genuine friends like our parents on the block...Tom & I would laugh & talk and go by the swimming pool in our gated community on family & friends Day,,, I would have dinner or barbecue outside and Tom always came over even if Gloria wasn’t home...Tom & Gloria loved going to Wegmen’s Grocery store & would ask for me to come along. I would have little items for myself & Tom would just tell the cashier with a joke, “I got it, it’s under $50 bucks” lol. Tom was unique and one of a kind...May you Rest In Peace.

The GOD of heaven and earth, the creator of every living thing
Gave us the gift of Thomas Haynes, those of you that knew Tommy whether long term friends or short term friends can all agree that Tommy was a man of humor and strength, Tommy was one of a kind he was unique with a voice that always had a smile in it.
I first met Tommy when he and Gloria started dating; Gloria and I have been best friends since 7th grade and share so many memories. The first thing I noticed was Tommy’s voice and that fact that Tommy was always welcoming to any of Gloria’s friends.
One of my funniest memories of Tommy is that everyday at lunchtime Tommy would go to the same restaurant and order the same thing Gloria was just learning how to perfect her cooking skills. Tommy ordered fried chicken wings and fried rice and then would smother it with ketchup.
After watching Tommy eat this day after day Gwen and I decided to do what Tommy did and order the same thing and smother it with ketchup, it was actually good well from that day I ate that every Saturday.
The last time I saw Tommy was 2 years ago when I came home for a visit and Tommy, Gloria and Julius and I hung out all night long lol our idea of hanging out was driving around then spending the night on Julius couch all of us and we laughed the entire time in fact we laughed ourselves to sleep.
I am thankful to the LORD for giving us the gift that was Tommy and the time we had with him. Cherish the memories and realize that we are all gifts in different wrappings the joy is to enjoy the journey and love the gift.

Uncle Thomas, the picture above perfectly captures your engaging smile and I can hear the laugh that goes along with it. I have fond memories of you from my childhood and will never forget your how beautiful your wedding was. My dad looked up to you as his big brother and I'm sure he, Nana, Aunt Jane, Aunt Lethabelle, Aunt Mae and Doris were all there to welcome you home. You are the last of the Haynes old guard so it's an especially sad day. May you have peace, health and laughter in the Father's arms. God bless. Your niece, Ayo

In Loving Memory of My Dear Tom,
Where did it all begin? Almost 40 years ago Gloria and I befriended each other. Over these years, our friendship has evolved into so much more. And by extension, that included Tom and the entire family.
Tom… a sleeping giant. Walked and talked softly but carried a big stick. In my times of grief over the passing of my husband, it was Tom who comforted me with his words of wisdom. It was his larger-than-life presence, his perfectly-timed humor and his sincere care that helped to pull me through. And while I love Gloria with all of my heart, it was so easy for me to side with Tom in times of disagreement! When calling the house I’d always say to Gloria, “and how’s my husband?; tell my husband I said hello; will my husband be with you when you come to visit; and more.”
When Tom and I would engage in conversations – with topics ranging from the state of politics to relationships to the latest news headlines – it was a given that our discussions would be lively! And in times of celebration, that, too, was lively!
Most recently, my family was treated to a quality, fun visit with Tom. No doubt he wasn’t feeling 100%, nonetheless, he came downstairs in his robe to socialize with us. He then proceeded to give my 8-yr.-old grandson an impromptu training/introductory session in the sport of boxing! He was patient, gentle, and loving. Where’s a camera when you need it?
There are no words to express what it will feel like when reality sets in. To know that my desire for Tom to teach me how to swim will never be realized; to know that he will no longer be on the other end of the phone or in my presence hurts my heart beyond expression.
Rest Peacefully, My Dear Friend… With Love, Diane Cole Gales and Family

Our dearest Thomas,
I will forever carry your beautiful smile and the laughter that so often followed it in my heart. Thank you for giving that to us once again, as we spoke to you while you were in the hospital that precious Sunday evening preceding your passing. Because of you, there was laughter and smiles through our tears. You were so courageous and loving. We are so thankful that Terence could get to you and be by your side. He sent me a picture of the beautiful sunrise that Heavenly Father painted that early morning as he so peacefully took you into his loving care.
I will forever regret letting the miles and distance come between us. And yet again, it is unfortunate that the stretch between us will prevent us from being able to be with Gloria, family and loved ones as they reflect upon your blessed life. We will certainly be there in spirit!
Please know, we not only thought of you, we often spoke of you and Gloria. We were planning a trip to visit you this spring. We will keep our promise to our boys, particularly Tyrece, who has had such a longing to make a trip to meet with you again. While you will not be there in the physical realm, I have no doubt you will still be with us, as we spend time remembering and celebrating you. Tyrece remembers you picking him and Terence up from the airport and taking them by the Statue of Liberty and into the city for the day. He smiles every time he speaks of that memory. My sister, my niece and I often recall our visit where you and Gloria spent the day with us. What a wonderful and joyous time that was. It meant a lot for Terence to have you witness his graduation from law school. I know how proud you were of him. My family remembers you fondly from that special event. Although they were few and far in between, we do have some memories to cherish. And we certainly hope to create new ones with your loving and dedicated, Gloria. May you rest in peace and watch over your loving wife, son, daughter and grandsons from above.
We love you and already miss you so!
Your Family
