Obituary of Francesca Scaccia
Francesca Scaccia, age 85, of Bridgeport, beloved wife to the late Ermenegildo Scaccia, entered into eternal life on January 16, 2024, with her loving family by her side.
Born on August 24, 1938 in Frosinone, Italy, Francesca received her education in Italy. Francesca became an American citizen after immigrating to the U.S. in 1972 and lived in Bridgeport for 52 years. Prior to her retirement, she worked as a seamstress at Warner's Lingerie in Bridgeport, and at a Bridal Shop in Westport. Francesca also used her talents as a seamstress to sew fashionable clothes for her young children and herself. She also worked as an assembly worker at Remington Products in Bridgeport.
Proud of her Italian heritage, Francesca's favorite singer was Andrea Bocelli and she enjoyed watching the Italian news. Her other favorite shows included Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, The Bachelor, and The Golden Bachelor. Francesca took great joy in gardening, vacationing, baking, cooking, canning tomatoes, and making cured meats. Francesca loved socializing with her many friends and family in the U.S., Italy, and Canada. She was always sure to have her cellphone nearby to call them on any given occasion. She even asked for her cellphone in the hospital just days before her passing. She always enjoyed welcoming others into her life and into her home for lunch, dinner, or coffee. She treated all her friends as family.
Francesca was a devoted grandmother, who helped care for her grandsons from the time they were born until they entered middle school. When Justin and Jeffrey would return to her home after school, she always had a treat ready for them, which often included homemade pizza and cookies. In addition, she enjoyed taking them to the local beaches and parks. Francesca always took great pride in her appearance. She was always dressed nicely, never leaving the house without her hair being done, lipstick applied, nails polished, and never without her favorite necklace and earrings, even when grocery shopping. She was a perfectionist in all she did. For example, when preparing a display of cookies for a party, she always took care to ensure the bow on the cookie tray wrapping and the sprinkles on the cookies were just right.
Francesca had a great sense of humor and always had a big smile on her face. Her friends and family enjoyed her one-of-a- kind laugh and she was always ready to find something to laugh about. Her son, Sisto, and grandsons, Jeffrey and Justin, loved her chicken, stracciatella, and pastina soup. Every time she made it, she would always ask, do you want the pastina or do you want the "meeks" (mix)?
Francesca's memory will be lovingly remembered by her children, Marina Sadownick, and her husband, Ronald, of Monroe. Marina is a graduate of Pace University School of Law and is currently an attorney for Fidelity National Title Insurance Company. Ronald is a graduate of M.I.T., a veteran of the Connecticut National Guard, and a retired engineer at Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford. Tiziana Scaccia, of Trumbull. Tiziana is a graduate of the University of Connecticut Law School and is currently an attorney for Old Republic Title Insurance Company. Her son, Sisto Scaccia, of Bridgeport, is a graduate of Sacred Heart University and is the owner of Connecticut Retail Systems. Her grandson, Jeffrey Sadownick, and his wife, Emilyann, of Northford. Jeffrey is a graduate of Miami University and works as a project engineer and Emilyann is a graduate of Quinnipiac University's Doctor of Physical Therapy program and is employed as a physical therapist. Her grandson, Justin Sadownick, of Monroe, is a medical student at Hackensack-Meridian School of Medicine.
In addition to her devoted husband of 51 years, Ermenegildo, Francesca was predeceased by her parents, Antonio and Filodea Ceccarelli; two brothers, Alfredo Ceccarelli, of Frosinone, Italy and Gino Ceccarelli, of Worcester, MA; and two sisters, Lina Faiola, of Worcester, MA and Maria Marini, of Torrice, Italy.
