I have loved you my whole life. I loved you when I was a little girl coming to visit you, meeting for lunch in NYC, playing with your childhood Barbies, cuddling under a blanket you’d knit or quilted. I thought you were almost magical, a “fairy” godmother who could do anything, and as I grew up I learned how true it was, how much heart and determination you poured into your passions, and how much kindness you always had to give to others. I still tell stories about you, because I’m still in awe of you and so honored to be family to you. I will always love you, and always try to live up to the example you set. Thank you for always making me feel so loved, for Gramma’s mustard bowl, for your patience and support, for making my husband feel just as loved even when you hardly knew him. There are hardly words to say how much you will be missed, you touched so many lives. The world feels a bit dimmer without you, but all those who loved you will carry your light forward. Goodbye Auntie Ellen, may your memory live on forever.

Such an amazing person who contributed so positively to the world around her. Our rides into NYC on the train together, walks to and from our workplaces, those talks will be treasured. She was spot on in reading people and situations. She had a way of always seeing the silver lining and I have carried that forward. She never was caught up in any negativity! She made us all laugh, and had the most patience hosting gingerbread house decorating for the neighborhood families ! She is an impetus to getting up and staying active. Nothing held Ellen back. Nothing. She was taken way too early. I will smile when it’s hardest in her honor. She is terribly missed.

Ellen was my best friend for over 50 years. And yet we were polar opposites. When my opinion of something or someone was too tough, she shared her perspective with me to open up my eyes. More times than not, she was right. We shared every aspect of our lives, the good, the bad, the ugly. It was a cruel trick placed upon her, that in her final time, she couldn't take her therapeutic walks. She was unconditionally committed to them. She even got me to go! She loved Ashley and Mila without reservation and was their biggest cheerleader. I was heartbroken when she moved to NC. And thrilled to learn of her return. Even more so when they chose CT where I live. Our visitations got back on track, our husbands liked one another, all was right with my world. Her medical diagnosis was so damn unfair and unrelenting. Her presence in my life improved my life. She made me a better woman by example. Happy Birthday (8/31) to one of God's angels. You will always be in my heart. I love you.

Ellen, dearest friend, you gave of yourself generously with an open heart and mind.
You taught me how to believe again and how to embrace life.
Recently “in the throes of your own agony”, you began to weep and apologized for not
being here for me. You have never been further away than a beautiful memory.
Ellen, you will always be part of my life.
Dear Lucien and family, “May your memories of Ellen shine radiantly. She was a wonderful
person: kind, gentle, royal, honest and a compliment. to all.

Ellen was the best neighbor anyone could ask for. I enjoyed our weekly walks and her generosity from her baked goodies to her offering her help in any way she could. Ellen always made you feel important and was a great listener. She had a zest for life and cared so much about her family and friends. She would be the first one to lend a helping hand. She fought hard and long and had lots of courage. We will miss you immensely dear friend!

Auntie Ellen always made me feel like I had a home with her for the holidays or any day. I appreciated her warmth, love, and generosity so much. There wasn’t a person easier to love and admire.

Ellen always brought sun and warmth to every room she entered. She approached life with a cup half filled and seeing a positive side to every situation. I will miss her kindness and positivity❤️
