Dr. Dragos Florin Cucu, age 54, of Trumbull, CT,  beloved husband of Daniela Boerescu, passed away on Monday, June 26, 2023 after a brief illness.

Born in Bucharest, Romania on June 4, 1969, son of the late Florin Cucu and Elena Aivaz-Bacal, Dragos came to the United States in 1999 to complete his medical training. He graduated an Intensive Care fellowship at Mount Sinai, NY and moved to Rhode Island to establish a family with Daniela. He worked at Newport Hospital and Kent Hospital, before moving to Connecticut and joining the group of Intensive Care physicians at Saint Vincent's Medical Center two years ago.

Dragos was described by his peers as an exceptionally intelligent and talented physician, and a passionate patient advocate. He loved being a doctor, never imagined an alternative career and dedicated much of his time to his patients. He enjoyed playing tennis, reading, playing the piano, political discourse and his pet cats. More than anything, he loved the times that he spent with his family.

In addition to Daniela, he leaves behind his children, Alexander and Irina Cucu, his sister Ioana Bacalu and his niece Alexandra Bacalu. 

A Trisagion Service will be held on Sunday, July 2 at 2 pm in St. Dimitrie Orthodox Church, 504 Sport Hill Rd., Easton, CT with the Rev. Fr. George M. Coca officiating.  Friends may call on Sunday from 1 pm until the time of services at Saint Dimitrie Church. 

In lieu of flowers family would appreciate Memorial contributions be made to their children's education fund.
