Elizabeth Devine Chalker, age 82, of Harwinton, Connecticut, wife of Peter E. Chalker, passed away peacefully in the presence of her beloved family on Wednesday, June 14, 2023.

Elizabeth was born in Portmagee, County Kerry, Ireland on March 27, 1941, daughter of the late Patrick J. Divane and Elizabeth Corcoran. In the late 1950’s, Elizabeth immigrated to the United States of America and was a proud American Citizen. Elizabeth worked in the health care field for many decades and was well known for her kind and compassionate care of her patients. Elizabeth loved her family, farm (Almost Heaven Farm), and horses. Elizabeth’s dog Suzie-Q will surely miss her attention and snacks.

In addition to her husband of 62 years, Peter E. Chalker, Elizabeth is survived by her sister, Bridget Divane of Portmagee, Ireland. She is predeceased by her sisters, Julia “Sheila” Stehle and May Byrne. Elizabeth is survived by her children, Sean Chalker and his wife Margot of Bethlehem, CT, Kerry Higgins and her husband Kevin of Midlothian, VA, Kelly Ward and her husband Bob of Warren, CT, Daniel Chalker and his partner Lilibeth Rodriguez of Waterbury, CT, Brian Chalker and his wife Carly of Torrington, CT, Patrick Chalker and his wife Paula, of Chester, MA, Eilish Stewart and her husband Jamie of Phoenix, AZ, Bridget Chalker of Newburyport, MA, and is predeceased by her loving daughter Patricia Chalker. Elizabeth will be greatly missed by her many grandchildren, Luis, Carlos, Jackson, Taylor, Ryan, Jeff, Caitlin, Madilyn, Daniella, Amanda, Mellisa, Patrick, Madeline, Isla, Lusia, and Cillian, as well as her many nieces and nephews.

At Elizabeth Chalker’s request the family will be celebrating her life privately. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be sent to John Dempsey Hospital, Farmington, CT (visit UCONN Foundation website) as a token of appreciation for the exceptional care that the staff provided their loved one.
