Obituary of Dorris M. Buehring

Dorris Marie Buehring, 93, of Milford, CT died suddenly, but peacefully, from natural causes on March 10, 2023, in the arms of her daughter Suzanne Standish. She was mentally sharp until her last breath and enjoyed life's simple pleasures. Dorris was born May 25, 1929, daughter of William Henry Ferguson and Gladys Irene Ferguson (nee Eaton). She was raised with her seven siblings in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. As a young woman she worked at Hudson's Department store and then as a bookkeeper at Wolverine Packing Company in Detroit, MI. She married Charles David Pollard, they moved to Montreal, Quebec and gave birth to Suzanne Irene Pollard and Charles David Pollard Jr. Sadly, Charles passed in infancy. Skiing, curling and gardening were some of her active pastimes. Secondary to job transfers, the family moved to Farmington Hills, MI, then Easton, CT and then to Brentwood, TN. Dorris worked for several companies in the accounting field, and she successfully graduated from Belmont University in Nashville, TN with a BA in business administration 5/5/1978. Following her divorce, Dorris moved back to Michigan and met the love of her life, James (Jim) Alward Buehring. They retired in 1984 and moved to Fairfield Glade, TN where they golfed, danced, played bridge, gardened, bowled, played tennis and traveled. They thoroughly enjoyed each other and their community of friends for over 36 years. They were active members of the Fairfield Glade Methodist Church and the Lions Club. Dorris volunteered time and donated money to many charitable and philanthropic causes. After Jim's passing, and during the pandemic, Dorris moved to Milford, CT in 2020 to live with her daughter. Dorris loved her family and is survived by her daughter, her grandchildren, Alex Quintner and Rachel Quintner, and her great grandchildren, Oscar and Henry Quintner and Sebastian and Charlotte Ward. She is also survived by her sisters Theresa Stockwell and Ruth Duff in MI and her brother William (Bill) Ferguson in CA. She has many nieces and nephews all over the US and Canada. She is also survived by her stepchildren, James F. Buehring (Donna) and Nancy Hawkins (Forrest) and their families. Dorris is predeceased by her parents, her husbands, her son, her sisters: Pat Borowski and Vera Roach, and her brothers: Frank Ferguson and Allen Ferguson. A memorial and celebration of Dorris's life will be held at St. Peters Episcopal Church, 71 River Street, Milford, CT 06460 on March 26, 2023 at 4:00 p.m. Dorris' final resting place will be next to Jim Buehring at the Fairfield Glade United Methodist Church in Fairfield Glade, TN.
