Robert R. Barackman, 85, of Fairfield, passed away peacefully on Sunday November 21, 2021.  Bob was born and raised in Chicago Heights, IL.  Robert graduated from the University of Illinois and Purdue University with his Masters in Industrial Engineering.  Robert was also enlisted with the US Coast Guard during the years of 1963 to 1965.  Robert worked for many years with Champion International Paper and later, International Paper.  For his career after his career, Robert worked as a substitute teacher in Westport and Fairfield schools and was known as Mr. B. 

Bob leaves behind his children, Melissa Troiano and her husband Ed of Hamden, Julie Teine of Tempe AZ, Frank Keller and his wife Geralyn of Massachusetts, Kimberly (Keller) Raveis, and 5 beloved grandchildren; Nicolas Swensgard, Mia Troiano, Laci, Charlotte, and William Raveis, III, one sibling Barbara DeBolt and her husband Bob of Flossmor, IL, and his niece and nephew. 

Robert was predeceased by his loving wife of 28 years Candace Boeh Keller Barackman, and his parents Jean and Rufus (Barry) Barackman.

Bob and Candy were always traveling the world making it to 6 of the 7 continents.  They both were avid cruise ship passengers.  They also loved to dance to reggae music.  Bob’s joy was found on the water whether on a cruise ship or a sailboat, Bob loved being on the water.  Bob enjoyed being a part of Community Sailing of Fairfield for a number of years as well.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday December 18, from 2 to 4pm in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, in Fairfield Center.
