Obituary of Mary H Skarstrom
Please share a memory of Mary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mary King Hassett Skarstrom, 81, passed away peacefully after a long battle with dementia.
She is survived by her children, Alarik E. W. Skarstrom, of Colorado, Christopher (Kit) W. Skarstrom, and his wife, Jennifer Ley, of New Jersey, Elizabeth N. Hubbard, and her husband, David, of Massachusetts; and her grandchildren, Alexandria (Skarstrom) Cordova, of Texas, and George and Nason Hubbard, of Massachusetts.
Mary was born and grew up in New York City, and studied at Bennington College in Vermont. She later settled in Connecticut where she made her home for the remainder of her life. Mary built a career in market research and was an early contributor to the PC revolution at Yankelovitch, Skelly, and White, Ziff Davis Publishing, and IBM, as well as developing a private practice as a Gestalt therapist.
Mary was an intelligent and elegant woman who loved reading, gardening, and great food. She faced great adversity in her life and rose to meet it, providing for her three children and instilling in them a strong work ethic, self-reliance, and the ability to select the correct fork and appropriate clothing appropriately for any occasion.
Mary would be "tickled pink" if you would join the fight to protect women's health by contributing to Planned Parenthood in her name.
