Obituary of Lorene Santos Rabelo
Lorene Santos Rabelo, 32, passed away on Thursday August 25, 2022.
She was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut on May 3, 1990 to Marcia Maria Santos and Cirio Rabelo, two immigrants from Brasil, who came here for an opportunity at the American Dream and to give their daughter a better life.
Lorene grew up in Bridgeport on Lincoln Avenue and attended Multi-Cultural Magnet and Central High School where she made numerous friends, many of whom she still has ‘til this day. She worked various jobs throughout this time to help support herself and save money for a car, which she was somehow able to buy at the age of 14.
After graduating from high-school, Lorene attended Housatonic Community College and then transferred to the University of Connecticut where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and an internship at Ernst & Young (EY). After spending many days studying at the Bigger’s house on Redding Road, a place she absolutely loved spending time at, she completed her CPA. After getting her CPA, Lorene joined EY as an Auditor, working her way up to Manager, then transitioning over to Recruitment, as a Supervising Associate. She spent the past 3+ years guiding college candidates all-around the country about the 1st class culture at EY - an organization that she was very loyal, proud to represent and be a part of.
Despite her numerous academic and professional accomplishments, Lorene valued her personal relationships most. She was an empathetic, benevolent, fearless and loyal lover of family, friends, her boyfriend and those she cared about most. Lorene took a lot of pride in being there for people and did it in the kind of non-judgmental, unapologetic, and tenacious way that made her truly unique. Her mom and dad, who she affectionately referred to as “DuDu” were her strength and guiding light whom she loved unconditionally. She enjoyed spending time with her friends at the beach, traveling; anywhere with a beach, her annual trip to visit her “Dudu” in Brasil, Captain’s Cove, the summer months, and of course cheering on Brasil during the World Cup. When she wasn’t outside, she was always in search of the next great reality tv show or watching Grey’s Anatomy on loop.
Lorene, we know you’ll continue to look down over us with that same big heart and smile
She is survived by her mom and dad, her boyfriend Filipe, brothers Cidmar and DiDi, sisters Natalia and Cirlane, Rosie and Sammy, Big Sam (her white dad), her nieces and nephews, many friends and puppy Nala.
