Obituary of Cynthia B Goldrick

Cynthia (Cynnie) B. Goldrick, age 86, of Southport, CT, beloved wife of 65 years to the late Richard (Randy) Goldrick, passed away Saturday, May 21, 2022.  Born and raised in Connecticut, daughter of the late Harold M. Bone and Marie K. Bone, Cynnie graduated from the University of Connecticut, class of 1957 with a degree in Education.  She was a Kappa Alpha Theta sorority sister which helped to instill a foundation of service.

Cynnie served in many philanthropic and leadership roles in the community.  She was the secretary of the Junior League of Bridgeport and enjoyed the Sustainer’s Tea as recently as last year.  The Greenfield Hill Congregational Church was a centering space in her life—this spiritual community gave her tremendous purpose and joy.  Cynnie served as the Dogwood Festival chairperson, on the board of trustees, and on the board of deacons at the church.  The church, its leaders and Cynnie founded a peaceful memorial garden which truly was Cynnie’s passion.  She dedicated many hours, months, and years to nurture a beautiful resting place for the Greenfield Hill Congregational Church community.  Cynnie was dedicated to her spiritual growth and was a 20 year member of Community Bible Study of Westport.

Randy’s career kept the pair busy with travel far and wide.  Cynnie, the ever-devoted wife enjoyed accompanying Randy while supporting his career as president of the National Association of Electrical Distributors. 

Cynnie spent time as a substitute teacher in the Fairfield Public School System for over ten years.  She always took time to listen to her students and help them succeed.  Her interest in education had many facets—she served as president of the Roger Ludlowe Parents Club and was a past member of the board of directors at the Mercy Learning Center.

Cynnie and Randy were ardent fans of UCONN women’s basketball and always made plans to cheer on the Huskies.  They enjoyed golfing at Brooklawn Country Club and visiting with friends on a sunny day at the Fairfield Beach Club.  Cynnie was an avid bridge player, book club enthusiast, loved a good creative project and never refused a sweet treat.

Cynnie was a dedicated mother of four daughters, and their spouses, Pamela Koss (Jud) of Southport, CT, Patti Gormley (Larry) of Rye, NH, Jamie Reynolds (Stephen) of Amelia Island, FL, and Jenny Fahrman (Keith) of Long Valley, NJ.  She adored her 14 grandchildren and three great grandchildren, she always made time to learn more about what they were doing and what made them tick. Cynnie is survived by a sister, Muriel Bodenweber, and many nieces and nephews.  She will be missed by all.

Cynnie and Randy are together again after only 70 days apart—their love and dedication was an incredible example to all who knew them.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2022 at 11:00 am at Greenfield Hill Congregational Church, 1045 Old Academy Road, Fairfield, CT. with inurnment immediately following in the Greenfield Hill Congregational Church Memorial Garden.
