Obituary of Ernest Chateauneuf

Ernest Leonce Chateauneuf, age 91, beloved husband of Anna Weston Chateauneuf, of Fairfield, passed away on March 10, 2022. Born in Bristol, CT on September 26, 1930, son of the late Ernest and Julienne Rose Landry Chateauneuf, Ernest had been a longtime resident of Fairfield. After graduating from Bullard Haven High School, he proudly served in the United States Army. Ernie had a long successful career with United Illuminating Company before retiring 30 years ago. After his retirement from the UI, Ernie helped as an assistant to several area funeral homes. He enjoyed photography and especially enjoyed world travel with his wife Anna. In addition to Anna, his devoted wife of 67 years, as he was so affectionally known, "Nene" will be lovingly remembered by his sister, Yvonne Ross, of Fairfield; his niece, Dora Lappin, of Stratford; nephews, Carlton "Butch" Fogg, of Nevada, Jeffrey Weston, of Trumbull, David Weston, of Milford; several great nieces and great nephews, including Nicole Harris, of Milford, whom "Nene" helped raise and was like a father to. He was predeceased by his siblings, Jeanette Gabany and Leo Chateauneuf. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, in Fairfield Center with Full Military Honors. Calling hours will be held on Monday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
