Obituary of Linda Karen Sochrin
Linda Karen Diamond Sochrin, formerly of Milford and Seymour, Connecticut, and most recently from Shelton, Connecticut, passed away January 11, 2022 after a brief illness. She was 81 years of age.
Linda is survived by her husband of more than 56 years, Sumner Burton Sochrin, also formerly of Milford and Seymour, Connecticut, and most recently from Shelton, Connecticut, her son Jeffrey Ward Sochrin of Simpson Bay, Sint Maarten, her niece, Aimee Higgins and her husband, Justin Higgins of Orange, Connecticut, her niece Sheri Sochrin of Feeding Hills, Massachusetts, her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Gary and Phyllis Sochrin of Orange, Connecticut, and her great-niece, Sarah Charlotte Higgins of Orange, Connecticut, in addition to her cats, Liza and Wendel and several grand-dogs and cats.
Linda was born in Derby, Connecticut on September 30, 1940 to Hyman and Helen Diamond (Opotzner). She was a graduate of Derby High School and Brown's Academy of Beauty. She was the owner of "The House of Diamond", a beauty salon in Derby, Connecticut, and later opened The Linda Sochrin Salon in Seymour, Connecticut.
Linda Sochrin was a philanthropist who often assisted charitable organizations with their fundraising endeavors. She was an avid dancer, a lover of all things related to fashion and a true fashionista. Linda was formerly a Justice of the Peace and regularly performed marriage ceremonies. She truly enjoyed the beach and entertaining guests at her home. In addition, she was a part time resident of the island of Sint Maarten in the Dutch Caribbean, where she enjoyed spending the winter months.
Friends are invited to join her family on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at 10:15 AM in Saint Catherine of Siena Church, 220 Shelton Road, in Trumbull, where visitation will take place and the Kaddish Prayer will be shared. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 AM, followed by entombment in Mount Saint Peter Cemetery in Derby. A Private Period of Mourning will be observed by the family.
