Obituary of Lillian Theresa Hessell
Lillian Conway Hessell—beloved wife, mother, and grandmother—and resident of Fairfield, CT for 53 years, passed away after a life well-lived at 90-years-old. Born in the Bronx to Lillian and Thomas Conway, she was an only-child, who at age 2, unexpectedly lost her father.
After her father’s passing, she continued to live with her mother and grandmother in the Bronx, and at the start of WWII, the family relocated to Bridgeport, CT, where Lillian attended Bassick High School, graduating in 1945 with straight A’s.
During her childhood, she cherished the summers she spent with her Aunt and Uncle Newman in White Plains, NY, and loved her first cousin, Audrey Newman, as a sister. In her 20’s, she drove cross-country from NY to California with her closest girlfriends, and she would often recall the many adventures they had along the way. Her independent spirit continued into her work ethic, where she was the office manager of general accounting at Coyne Bros. in Bridgeport.
Shortly thereafter, she met her husband of 44 years, Frederick Almaron Hessell. This was followed by the birth of her only son, Edward T. Hessell, in 1960. After taking time off to raise her son, she joined B-VAC Corporation in Norwalk, CT in November of 1970, where she acted as office manager.
In her later years, she cherished her family, friends, and dog Daisy, as well as the trips she took to Disney World and Ireland.
She is survived by her son Edward Hessell, granddaughter Caitlyn Hessell, and daughter-in-law Eileen Hessell.
