Marie Killilea Smiley Irish, age 83, of Fairfield Connecticut, wife of Kirwin Michael Irish, passed away peacefully with her children, granddaughter, and sister by her side on Saturday, August 28, 2021.
Born in Port Chester, NY daughter of the late James and author Marie Lyons Killilea, Marie lived in Fairfield, Connecticut for over 30 years spending the last 10 winters in Naples, Florida. Marie's love of life, birds and animals knew no bounds, which was evident by her numerous bird feeders at her home in Connecticut and the number of horses, cats and dogs that felt her loving embrace over her lifetime. Particularly her horse Jezebel who exemplified her love and desire to ride.
Marie was a long-time member of the Crossroads Equestrian Center in Brewster, NY. Her reciprocated love for Jan Golash and her extended barn family contributed to Marie's joy and love of life
In addition to her husband of 37 years, Kirwin Michael Irish, Marie is survived by her loving children and their spouses; Ron and Gillian Smiley of Boston, MA, Robin and Bruno Ricci of Mahopac, NY and Christopher and Snjezana Smiley of Danbury, CT; grandchildren Samantha Aizenstadt, Curtis Smiley, Robert and Teresa Ricci; sister Kristin Viltz and her husband Simon of Hawthorn Woods, IL and brother Rory Killilea of Seattle, WA; great grandchild Bodhi Aizenstadt and niece Nikole Robinson. She was predeceased by her daughter Michelle and sister Karen Killilea.
A celebration of Marie's life will be held on Thursday, October 7 at 11:00 am at the Notre Dame of Easton Church, 655 Morehouse Rd, Easton.
