Obituary of Santo Perro
Santo D. Perro, age 102, of Norwalk, beloved husband of Lorraine Hay Perro, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2021 in the company of his endearing family.
Sam will be lovingly remembered by his daughter Nancy Murgalo and her husband Frank of Norwalk; his sister, Josephine Tomasone of Pompton Plains, NJ, and brother Dominick Perro of Edison, NJ; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his devoted wife Lorraine, he was predeceased by siblings Rose Perro, Frank Perro , Fanny Aquino, Antonette Randazzo, Al Perro, and Jeanne DeMeo .
Sam was born and raised on the lower east side of Manhattan. Once married, he moved to Brooklyn, and later to Wayne, NJ. Sam lived in NJ until age 100 when he moved to Norwalk to be with his daughter and son-in-law. Sam served in the Army before WW II and in the Navy during WW II. He was a radioman and remembered Morse Code for the rest of his life. He worked for the Federal Aviation Agency and was Assistant Chief at the Teterboro, NJ Flight Service Station. Sam loved playing the guitar, trips to Atlantic City, and evenings out with friends and family. He had a joy for life and a dedication to his family as the eldest of nine children. He went viral on Tik Tok displaying his golf prowess at age 101.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 3 to 7 PM in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home 1209 Post Road in Fairfield Center. On Friday, services will begin in the funeral home at 930 AM and proceed to Saint Francis of Assisi Parish 35 Norfield Road, in Weston for his Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM. Military honor will be observed immediately after services. His interment in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, in Totowa, NJ will be held privately.
