She was predeceased by her parents, Regina Kedves and John Lengen, her uncles Msgr. James Lengen and Stephen Lengen and aunts Mary Lengen and Grace Jacowitz. Born and raised in the West End of Bridgeport, Peggy and Joe moved to Fairfield with their growing family in 1955. Always a mother first, Peggy devoted her energy to raising her children. She was a wonderful cook and baker and was the happiest when her family and friends surrounded her. Many Hungarian traditions began in that kitchen and carried through to the end of her days. She was a huge fan of Food Network and collector of new recipes that she could prepare for her family. Before her vision declined, she enjoyed a challenging game of Rummikub or Pinochle, reading a good mystery novel, knitting and crocheting, and creating beautiful fashions for her home and family on her sewing machine. Peggy was a graduate of Saint Stephen's School, Bassick High School and Booth and Bayliss Business School. Her early careers included stints at Howland's Department Store, Beaver Tractor and finally, a career with Nationwide Insurance Company from which she retired to travel and spend retirement days with Joe. Peggy was a loving caretaker to her aunts and uncles in their time of need and also, to her Mom, Regina, when she could no longer care for herself. She never turned down the opportunity to babysit her grandchildren, baking cookies or collecting shells and sea glass at the beach. Peggy was active in the Ladies' Guild at St. Thomas Aquinas Church and the Survivors of the USS Twiggs Reunion Committee plus numerous activities when her children were young. It was no accident that many people have come to know Peggy. Her warm outgoing personality touched countless people throughout her long fruitful life. She counted herself as truly blessed for having a long and loving marriage to Joe, a beautiful family as well as the endless number of enduring friendships worldwide.
