Obituary of Robert Daruka

Robert Daruka, 88, boarded his majestic ship, to sail upon an ocean of blue in the dimming hours of Earth Day, April 22, 2021.

Bob was born in Bridgeport, CT on October 17, 1932, to Andrew & Jennie (Szitar). He was predeceased by his parents, siblings (Ernest, Andrew & Ethel Szabo) and 2 nephews, Doug Daruka and Bruce Szabo.

Bob was a true artist, first with his brother Andy, as a master carpenter, building one-of-a-kind homes in the Westport/Weston area, and then on his own learning the art of stained glass.  His beautiful pieces adorn the windows of many family and friends.  Bob was also a master story and joke teller.  At his core, Bob was a perpetual student of Mother Nature and the Universe.  In his own inimitable way, he spent his life trying to pass on that great love and curiosity not only to his family, but to all who crossed his path, especially at his beloved Penfield Beach.  He never failed to marvel at the mystery in a grain of sand, or how so many colorful flowers could burst forth, all from black dirt.

Left to cherish his smile, laughter and memory are his two daughters, Janice Zona (Gary ) and Carolyn Joy, and his former wife and best friend Dotty, "An Angel without Wings" and many nieces and nephews.

Bob’s family wishes to thank the staff of the Windsor Wing  at the Carolton, and his home care providers, Sherry, Ingrid & Val for their compassionate care.

To truly Honor his life, when you see something beautiful, a cloud, a rose, a seashell, a bird, stop, revel in it, and find someone to share it with.  "See you come bye and bye"
