Obituary of John Patrick Eustace

Please share a memory of John to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

John Patrick Eustace, 50, beloved husband, father and friend, passed away on Monday, August 6, 2018, after a long battle with cancer. Born and raised in Montvale, New Jersey, John was the youngest son of Catherine Butler Eustace and the late Edward P. Eustace.

A decade after graduating from Fairfield University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, John returned to Fairfield permanently with his adoring wife, Cheryl, where they raised their three children. John’s tenure as a Benefits Consultant spanned for two decades, most recently with Buck Consultants. An avid runner and two time NYC Marathon competitor, John shared this passion with his children and together, they participated in the Spring Lake 5 every Memorial Day weekend. A devoted baseball fan, John was loyal to the Mets and proudly coached for the Fairfield National Little League for many years. John’s favorite memories took place with his extended family on the beaches of Fairfield, CT and Chatham, MA, where he entertained everyone with his dry wit and mischievous smile. John (fondly called Boog by his siblings) never passed up an Italian ice or a chance to visit McSorley’s Pub for a pint of Guinness. John touched the lives of many people, from his hometown friends and college classmates to his Stratfield neighbors and Fairfield’s next generation of baseball players.

Above all else, John will be remembered as a loving husband and doting father, son, brother and uncle. In addition to Cheryl, the love of his life and wife of 22 years, John is survived by his children, Julia, Patrick and William, all of Fairfield, and his mother, Catherine Eustace of Trumbull, CT. He also leaves behind four siblings: Edward M. Eustace and his wife, Emmy of New York City, Stephen E. Eustace and his wife, Carrie of Fair Haven, NJ, James R. Eustace and his wife Maura of Easton, CT and Mary C. Johnson and her husband, Edward of Fairfield. In addition, he is survived by several brothers and sisters in law: Katherine Rehak, Walter F. Rehak and his wife Gretchen, Denis J. Rehak and his wife, Angela, Joseph P. Rehak and his wife, Virginia and Lizabeth M. Ferullo, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
