Victor V. Nastu, age 91, of Bridgeport, beloved husband of Anne Chanaca Nastu, passed away on Friday, July 6, 2018.
Born in Bridgeport, November 15, 1926, son of the late Van and Virginia Tanase Nastu, Victor served in the US Navy during WWII and was proud of his continous 68 year membership of the American Legion post 143. A gifted athlete, he was unable to accept his letter inviting him to tryout for the St. Louis National baseball club. After his wartime service, Vic started his career as a butcher in the family business, Crown Market and then for the Beechwood Market.
He was a longtime member of St. Dimitrie Orthodox Church, a longtime Council member as well as Church Treasurer. Victor was an avid duck pin bowler, breaking many records in addition to bowling a few perfect games. He was a major sports fan, but his passion was watching the New York Giants, Yankees and UCONN Basketball.
In addition to his loving wife Anne, survivors include his sons, Gary and Michael Nastu and Gregory Nastu and his wife Martha, a daughter Victoria DeNitto and her husband Jeff, granddaughters Alexa and Danielle DeNitto, a sister Bea Kolton as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother John Nastu and his previous wife Gloria Nastu.
