Obituary of Christine Ann Robinson Frese
A most lovely human being left this earth when Christine Ann Robinson Frese departed this life on November 5, 2017. Chris, a resident of Westport for 22 years, was born in Brooklyn, NY, on January 17, 1951, the daughter of Lillian Close and George Herbert Robinson. She graduated from Christ the King High School in Middle Village, NY, in 1968, and from The Pratt Institute of Brooklyn with a BA degree in Design in 1973. After a stint at The New Yorker, she joined Manufacturers Hanover Trust Co in 1975 and continued to work for its succeeding banks until her death. It was there she met her future husband, Edward S. Frese, jr. (Ted). They married in 1979 and had a son Edward Robinson Frese (Rob) in 1986. Chris referred to the times between her marriage and Rob's birth as 'when we were single,' living happy and carefree in Greenwich Village, able to change plans at a moment's notice, with no responsibility except to themselves. But she loved being a mother, and enjoyed every second of watching her son grow from an adorable baby to a fine adult to the husband of a lovely wife. Few could resist Chris' gentle manner, her grace and charm, her style and love of beauty and culture, her sense of humor and insightful but kindly judgments of people, events, and art. She had a knack for making wonderful and enduring friendships at the Bank, with neighbors, and at Trinity Church, especially as the long-time head of the Flower Guild. Chris will ever be remembered with love and affection by her husband, their son and his wife Evy of St Petersburg, FL; brother George and his wife Eileen of White Lake, NY; and Ted's siblings: Victoria A. Frese of Southport, CT; Anne F. and Paul Chant of Chocurua, NH, and their children Sarah, Emily and Thomas; Charles R. Frese of Sanibel, FL; William W. and Sara Deane Frese of Boston, MA; and many dear friends. Visitation will be held at the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, in Fairfield Center on Wednesday, November 8, from 4:00-8:00 PM and on Thursday from 9:00-11:00 AM, with a 12:00 noon service at Trinity Episcopal Church in Southport, CT, to be followed by a reception in the Parish Hall. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to theTrinity Church Memorial Fund, PO Box 400, Southport, CT 06890 or to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675.
