Obituary of Virginia Cook
Virginia " Gina " Pittu Cook, age 89, of Fairfield, widow of the late T. John Cook Sr., passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 18, 2017. Born and raised in Bridgeport, daughter of the late Thomas and Rincea Fatse Pittu, Gina had been a Fairfield town resident for over 50 years.
She was a devoted member of St. Dimitrie Orthodox Church where she had been the choir director for over 60 years and was honored in 2010 when the new Church's choir loft was dedicated to her for her many years of faithful service. Gina was a willing volunteer for all church functions, especially as the co-chairperson of annual church festival where her whistle could be heard throught the hall while running her special " Cake Raffles ". Gina enjoyed music and singing and was a big fan of Frank Sinatra. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, Gina will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her sons, Theodore J. Cook, Jr and his wife Elizabeth and Donald Thomas Cook, she leaves behind her granddaughter, Bethany Fuscaldo and great-granddaughter Tory and several nephews, a special niece, Ann Nastu and special nephews Steven and Dean Coca. In addition to her husband John, Gina was predeceased by her son Robert, daughter Patricia Cook Johnson a brother James Pittu, sisters Victoria Chanaca, Sophie Reimer and Flora Pittu as well as her son in law Travis Johnson.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 am directly at St. Dimitrie Orthodox Church, 504 Sport Hill Rd., Easton with burial to follow in Lakeview Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 10 am until the time of services. Arrangements in the care of the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home.
