Obituary of James T Giambazi
James T. Giambazi, age 87, of Bridgeport, beloved husband of Katherine Talabac Giambazi, passed away on Sunday, September 3, 2017 with his loving family by his side. Born in Bridgeport on February 24, 1930, son of the late Theodore and Angelina Nastu Giambazi, James was a lifelong Bridgeport resident.
He was a Veteran of the Korean War, serving in the US Army. Mr. Giambazi along with his sister Louise by his side, had been the owner and operator of the Seaside Confectionery and Luncheonette, the family business founded by his father, Theodore, which ran for 55 years. He was a longtime member of St. Dimitrie Orthodox Church. In his youth, Jimmy was an avid baseball player and later enjoyed playing ping pong with St. Dimitrie Church and belonged to the St. Dimitrie Seniors group. More than anything he loved the times that he spent with his family.
In addition to Katherine his wife of 63 years, he leaves behind his sons, Nicholas Giambazi of Bridgeport and Theodore Giambazi of Shelton and his fiancée Lisa Batsu, his cherished grandchildren Matthew and Jaden Giambazi of Shelton, brotherin-law and sister-in-law Christy and Elizabeth Talabac as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters Louise Giambazi Lazar, Mary Giambazi Shanazu, Elizabeth Giambazi Vanghele, and infant sisters Florence and Margaret Giambazi, and mother-in-law and father-in-law Louise Bici Talabac and Vanghel Talabac, a sisterin-law Jennie Talabac, brotherin-law Thomas Shanazu and nephew, Stephen Lazar. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11:30 a.m. in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Rd., Fairfield Center with burial to follow in Lakeview Cemetery with Military Honors.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. in the Funeral Home, with the Trisagion service at 6:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Dimitrie Church Endowment Fund.
