Obituary of Barbara McShane

Barbara McShane (“Babs”), age 75 of Fairfield, beloved wife of Thomas McShane Sr., passed away in Monday, February 24, 2020. Born and raised in Jamaica, NY, daughter to the late William and Genevieve Reichman, Barbara was a Fairfield Town resident for most of her life. In addition to Thomas, her loving husband of 50 years, she is survived by her sons, Thomas Liam McShane Jr. and his wife Paula of Trumbull, Ct and Bryan Patrick McShane and his wife Kate of New Providence, NJ, her grandchildren Gracie and Lily and Zander and Lucy. She leaves behind her brothers William Reichman and his wife Donna of St. Charles, IL and Glen Reichman and his wife Vicki of Bullhead, AZ, a sister Kim Beovich and her husband Dennis of Seaford, Ny as well as many nieces, nephews and her extended family at the Carolton who were so caring over the years. She had worked for many years for The Carolton Health and Rehabilitation Center in Fairfield until her retirement. A longtime parishioner of St. Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic Church and a member of the St. Thomas Ladies Guild where she spread her faith and love to many adored friendships. She was an endless caretaker for her family, her friends, her patients and all those who had a need for care; a meticulous cook and incredibly devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and loved friend. Babs loved her family endlessly, and particularly cherished every moment with her four beautiful grandchildren. She possessed an unbounded love and heartfelt, human touch for all those who crossed her path in her life. She enjoyed caring for her garden dedicated Our Holy Mother, was an avid reader about the Revolutionary War and supporter of cancer research. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 2, at 10:30 am at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Post Rd., Fairfield with burial to follow in Oak lawn Cemetery, Fairfield. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 3-6 pm in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, in Fairfield Center. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers donations are sent to Bridgeport Hospital Foundation Oncology Support Services in memory of Barbara McShane.
