Ann Elizabeth Sims, 84, of East Haven, CT, passed away on Friday, July 10, 2026, due to complications from Alzheimer's Disease. Born in New Haven, CT, she was the beloved daughter of the late Thomas and Mary Liston. Ann was a graduate of Wilbur Cross High School and St. Raphael's Nursing School. In 1963, she married her devoted husband, Richard James Sims. Ann dedicated 40 years of her life to caring for others as a Registered Nurse, working primarily in the Emergency Room at St. Raphael's Hospital before finishing her distinguished career with the West Haven Medical Group. She was an avid reader and loved knitting clothes and blankets. Most of all, she cherished socializing with her fellow nurses and spending quality time with her siblings, children, and grandchildren. She is survived by her loving husband, Richard J. Sims of East Haven; her son Brian Sims and his wife Connie of Northford; her son Richard Sims and his wife Debra of Arizona; and her son-in-law Thomas DiMaio of New York. She also leaves behind her sisters, Mary Hott and Sandra Barnett of Florida; grandchildren Alison DiMaio and Melissa DiMaio of New York, and Nicholas Sims and his wife Erika of Florida; and her great-grandson, Elysian Sims. Ann was predeceased by her beloved daughter, Doreen DiMaio, and her brothers, Thomas and Stephen Liston. Visiting hours will be held on Friday, July 17, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Lesko Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, Fairfield, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, July 18, at 10:00 AM at Holy Cross Church, 750 Tahmore Drive, Fairfield, CT. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in loving memory of Ann to the Alzheimer's Association, Connecticut Chapter, at alz.org/ct.
