Frances Lee Gammon, a cherished 55-year resident of Fairfield, CT, passed away on July 11, 2026, at the age of 86. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Lee Gammon. She is survived by her son, Matthew S. Gammon, along with her sister-in-law, nieces, and nephews in both Texas and Washington State. Frances had a fulfilling career as a surgical nurse at Park City Hospital.  

My mom was a true bookworm! She adored Sue Grafton’s Alphabet mystery series, Janet Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum series, and James Patterson books. In her free time, she enjoyed watching murder mysteries and spy movies on her iPad. Some of her favorite shows included Slow Horses, Castle, Bosch, Hallmark mysteries, Murder She Wrote, Matlock, NCIS, and Reacher. At night, she would unwind with movies, and some of her favorites were South Pacific, Guns of Navarone, Dirty Dozen, How to Succeed in Business, Independence Day, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Bye Bye Birdie, and White Christmas.

Frances had a passion for Broadway musicals, such as Producers, Guys and Dolls, A Chorus Line, Mama Mia, Annie, Hello Dolly, The King and I, and many others. When my dad was still around, my parents enjoyed dining out every weekend, and when I visited from Florida, we would explore all her favorite restaurants. Some of her favorite foods included Salmon, White pizza with shrimp, Lobster, Filet mignon, Chocolate chip cookies, Chocolate turtles, chocolate truffles, and milk chocolate with nuts. She also cherished the beauty of Connecticut, especially the flowers and trees, and loved tulips, carnations, and dogwoods. Traveling with her husband, James, was a joy, and they explored most of Western Europe, Poland, Egypt, and Israel, and she even went on a nursing exchange to Moscow for two weeks in 1980.
