John Byron Davies, of Fairfield, CT, passed away on June 16, 2026 at the age of 77.

Born on June 28, 1948, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Byron was the son of John Vincent Davies and Dorothy Mary Englert Davies. He grew up with a strong work ethic and a quiet determination that would define his life.

Byron is survived by his beloved wife of almost 30 years, Mary Jo Felis Davies; his three sons: Matthew Davies (Heather), Justin Davies (Heather) and Andrew Davies; his stepchildren: Christina Bodine Aysseh (Nicholas) and Richard Bodine III. He was the proud grandfather to 10 grandchildren: Sage, Isla, and Wilder Davies; Graham, Benjamin, and Ruby Davies; Austin and Charlotte Aysseh; Bo and Benjamin Bodine. Byron is also survived by his sister, Suzanne Sutton, (Joseph).

He was predeceased by his parents and twin brother, Bruce Davies.

During the Vietnam War, Byron was drafted into the United States Army. A gifted athlete, he was recruited to play on the Army handball team, where he proudly served his time. Byron earned his Bachelors Degree from Lehigh University and went on to earn multiple Masters Degrees. 

Byron spent 50 years in the brokerage business, concluding his long and respected career with Merrill Lynch, Bank of America. Known as a man of few words, he carried himself with quiet strength, consistency, and integrity.

Outside of work, Byron’s passions were deeply rooted in the outdoors and in simple pleasures. He was an avid fly fisherman and found great happiness on the water, especially when sharing memorable river fishing trips with his wife. In the 1990s, he owned the Fairfield Fly Shop, where he combined his love of fishing with his entrepreneurial spirit.

Those who knew Byron will remember the qualities that defined him, many of which took root early in life. As a boy in 4-H, he discovered a love for Flemish rabbits, and by just 14, he had earned his United Steelworkers union card—early signs of the discipline and character he carried throughout his life. In later years, that same spirit showed in simple, meaningful ways, from his desire to run home from the office between meetings to do laundry to his enjoyment of a good glass of wine.

Byron lived a life defined not by grand gestures, but by quiet dedication—to his family, his work, and to the things he loved most. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A private service will be held by the family.
