Kevin R. Broderick Obituary

Kevin R. Broderick, of Fairfield, Connecticut, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at Hartford Hospital following a brief but courageous illness. He was 70 years old.

Born on May 12, 1956, to Harold and Elsie Broderick, Kevin was the youngest of six children. Shortly after graduating from high school, he proudly enlisted in the United States Navy. He served aboard the USS Flying Fish, a nuclear attack submarine, and honorably served his country for four years.

Following his military service, Kevin began a career with Sikorsky Aircraft, a division of United Technologies Corporation, where he worked for 36 years as an Environmental Engineer. His work allowed him to travel throughout the country and develop many lifelong friendships.

Kevin retired at age 59 after developing a serious medical condition that he courageously battled for the remainder of his life. Throughout those final eleven years, his friends remained by his side, offering unwavering support and companionship.

An avid outdoorsman, Kevin was always happiest outside. He was a passionate hunter and fisherman, a talented gardener and landscaper, and a member of several hunting clubs. He took tremendous pride in his property and enjoyed sharing his knowledge of gardening with those around him. If you were fortunate enough to be part of Kevin's circle of friends, you may have gone home with some of his prized garlic, wonderful tomatoes, or an invitation to spend a day trout fishing at the Pequot Gun Club.

Though quiet and private by nature, Kevin was fiercely loyal to those he cared about. His good friends Dave, Christine, Jack, Pete, Mike, Richie, and many others were always there for him. Although it is impossible to name everyone, Kevin's family is deeply grateful that he was always included in the lives of those who loved him. Whether it was a cookout, dinner with friends, birthday celebrations, help with his dog, or enjoying one of Mikey's famous cakes or Karen's delicious salads, Kevin was always welcomed and always appreciated. Those friendships brought him great joy throughout his life.

Kevin was a lifelong dog lover and always had a faithful companion by his side. Most recently, he shared a special bond with his beloved black Labrador Retriever, May, who will miss him dearly.

Kevin was predeceased by his parents and his siblings. He is survived by his beloved Auntie Lovie (Patricia Broderick), whom he loved dearly, along with several nieces and nephews.

In keeping with Kevin's wishes, funeral services and burial arrangements through Lesko Funeral Home, Fairfield, CT will be private.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Kevin's life and share memories at Testo's Restaurant in Monroe on Friday, June 19, 2026, beginning at 1:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Kevin's memory to Ducks Unlimited, an organization whose mission and appreciation for the outdoors reflected Kevin's own passions.

Though Kevin asked for little in life, he gave much to those around him and leaves behind countless memories, friendships, and acts of kindness that will never be forgotten.
