Robert Charles "Bob" Elinskas, Sr. Obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we mourn the passing of Robert C. Elinskas Sr., 82, of Fairfield, Connecticut, who entered eternal rest on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, surrounded by his devoted wife, Kathy, and their three sons, Rob, Brian, and David.

Born and raised in Broad Brook, CT, Bob was the beloved son of Charles and Grace Elinskas. From an early age, he developed a lifelong passion for sports. A graduate of East Windsor High School, he excelled on both the baseball and basketball teams. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving his country with honor. Following his active duty, Bob attended Becker Junior College, continuing to shine on the basketball and tennis courts while also enjoying a great round of golf. After graduation, Bob continued his education at the University of Bridgeport, where he met the love of his life, Kathy.

Bob went on to build a distinguished career in the insurance industry, holding executive positions at AON, ITT Rayonier, The Hartford, and other organizations. A natural leader with an unrivaled work ethic, he approached every challenge with discipline, clarity, and follow-through for a plan that was developed well in advance. He coached and mentored with grace, always leading by example and inspiring those around him with his conviction.

Above all, Bob's greatest joy and proudest accomplishment was his family. He and Kathy shared fifty-five extraordinary years of marriage, never leaving each other's side. Together, they raised three sons, Rob, Brian, and David, all of whom reside in Fairfield, a testament to the strong family values Bob instilled. He lived each day for his family, defying medical odds with unwavering determination, a positive mental attitude, and a deep love for those around him. His strength, kindness, sincerity, and gift for conversation made him truly one of a kind.

Bob dedicated his time and talents to many organizations, always fostering teamwork, community spirit, and spiritual growth. For decades, he was deeply involved in the Connecticut Babe Ruth League as a baseball coach, League President, District Commissioner, and ultimately Connecticut State Baseball Commissioner. His contributions earned him induction into both the New England and Connecticut Babe Ruth Halls of Fame. He also served on the board of the Fairfield Police Athletic League and, guided by his strong Catholic faith, became an active member of the Knights of Columbus, rising to the role of Grand Knight. His impact on the community was profound, and he was honored as a State of Connecticut Volunteer of the Year in Athletics.

Bob's Catholic faith was the cornerstone of his life. A humble man of integrity and strong moral conviction, he consistently chose what was right, even when it was difficult. His values shaped every aspect of his life and left a lasting imprint on all who knew him.

Bob is survived by his loving wife, Kathy, and their three sons: Rob and his wife, Cynthia, and their children Nicole, Kaylee, and Brandon; Brian and his wife, Sarah, and their daughter Samantha; and David and his wife, Eva, and their children Whitney, Cecilia, and Nathan, all of Fairfield. He is also survived by his brother Larry and his wife, Bonnie, of Virginia; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and many close friends who became family.

He was predeceased by his parents; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; and his loyal companion of seventeen years, Barkley.

Bob was a true champion on the field of life and a humble servant of God, keeping family first, living fully, loving deeply, and lifting others through his example. Although our hearts are broken, we take comfort in knowing that when God called Bob home, He called one of the very best.

A Funeral Mass celebrating Bob's extraordinary life will be held on Friday, May 22, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Pius X Church, 834 Brookside Drive, Fairfield, CT. A reception will follow in the St. Pius X Faith Center Community Room.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to Father Sam Kachuba, pastor of St. Pius X Church; to Bob's loyal "team" of family and friends; and a very special thanks to the dedicated medical professionals who supported him throughout his journey, allowing him to fight on, giving him the time and strength to continue making a lasting impact on all of those around him.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Pius X Church in Fairfield or the Connecticut Babe Ruth League.
