Angelina Elizabeth Waterbury Obituary

Angelina Elizabeth (Bonaventura) Waterbury passed away gracefully on March 11, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Affectionately known as ‘Nana’ to many, she was born on August 23, 1928, to the late Salvatore and Carmella (Palumberi) Bonaventura.  She was the youngest of 4 children.

Angie graduated from Darien High School and soon started a career at Artistic Ribbon in Greenwich, where she met Eddie, who would become her husband and only love until his passing in 1989.  She later worked at VCA and Tower Oshan and retired from People’s Bank in 1995.

In her younger days, she played softball and was an avid bowler well into her 80’s.  After retirement, she worked part-time for the Shelton school system as a lunch lady.

She loved spending time with family and made a lasting impression on everyone she met. Although she favored the NY Giants, you could find her watching all the teams play.  She was an avid reader but loved her Harlequin Romance Novels most.  She also enjoyed trips to the casino.

Angie was predeceased by her husband, Edward Waterbury, her parents, her three siblings, a niece, two nephews and many cousins.  She is survived by her three daughters AnnMarie Waterbury, Susan Chapman (Mike) and Patricia Vajda.  Five grandchildren, Shannon, Christina, Stephanie, Eric and Courtney and seven great grandchildren, Sean, Ethan, Violet, Victoria, Cecilia, Julianna and Rylee.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the ASPCA.
