Thomas Michael Glynn Obituary

Thomas Glynn, 79, a longtime resident of Fairfield, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2026, surrounded by the comfort and love of his family.

Born on December 9, 1946, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, he was the son of the late Paul and Lottie Glynn. Raised in his hometown, Tom attended Notre Dame High School of Fairfield. He continued his education at Sacred Heart University and later earned both his Master’s Degree and Sixth Year Certificate from Fairfield University.

Tom dedicated many years of his life to education as a teacher in Stamford, Connecticut, where he was known to generations of students simply and fondly as “Mr. Glynn.” His patience, humor, and encouragement left a lasting impact on the many young people whose lives he helped shape. Outside of the classroom, Tom had a love for travel and enjoyed exploring all corners of the world. He especially treasured the many cruises he shared with family and friends. A devoted sports fan, he followed college basketball closely, cheering for Providence, UConn, and Sacred Heart. Tom also loved the Red Sox, Patriots and Celtics.

Tom had a deep connection to his Irish heritage and music. He was a proud bagpiper with the Fairfield Gaelic Pipe Band and an active member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians and the Gaelic American Club. He especially enjoyed celebrating his heritage with family and friends, including the cherished tradition of “Thirsty Thursdays” for more than 40 years.

Tom is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Nancy; his son, Sean Glynn and his wife, Betsey, of Trumbull; and his daughter, Katie Marucci and her husband, Ian, of Milford. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Conor and Ryan Glynn and a devoted uncle to many nieces and nephews. Tom was also the cherished brother of Lois Bourque (Ray) of Fairfield, Connecticut, and James Glynn (Nancy) of St. Augustine, Florida. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and John Crisanti.

Tom will be deeply missed by his family, extended relatives, friends, and the many former students whose lives he enriched.
