Hildegard Anna Noonan Obituary

Hildegard Anna Noonan, known as "Hildy" or "Hil" to those who loved her most, died peacefully on February 28, 2026, at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, surrounded by her loving family. She was 57 years old.

Hildegard was born to Kenneth Lathrop and Ilse Lathrop in New Milford, CT, on March 13, 1968. She spent her childhood and adolescent years in both New Milford and Germany. As a teenager, Hildegard excelled in both academics and athletics, running track for New Milford High School and later attending and graduating from Western Connecticut State University, earning a degree in Business Administration. After graduating, she built a successful career before choosing to step away from the workforce and embrace her most cherished role as a stay-at-home mother to her two daughters. Hildegard made her home in Fairfield after spending more than 20 cherished years in East Norwalk—two communities that she loved dearly.

One of 6 siblings, she loved to be surrounded by people and often acted as the "glue" with her knack for connecting with others, effortlessly bringing her family and friends together. She loved planning and hosting gatherings, always creating a warm, welcoming space where everyone felt at home. When she wasn't hosting, she was just as delighted to join her loved ones for a local concert, happy hour, book club, a leisurely stroll, or even a camping trip. No matter what the setting or occasion, she cherished the simple joy of being together.

Hildegard was a beautiful person inside and out who touched the lives of many. Known for her sunny personality and vibrant smile, she found beauty in simplicity. Her coffee in the morning, a walk along the water, a charcuterie board, and an Aperol spritz with her "girls" and watching the sunset on the beach during a summer evening were all things that brought her immense joy. Hildy loved to spend time with her friends and always nurtured her long-standing friendships -- never failing to find time to catch up with an old friend, whether it be over lunch, a glass of wine, or a phone call. She was deeply committed to investing in others and in her community. In addition to volunteering in Norwalk Public Schools while her daughters were young, she went on to serve as a dedicated mentor to students in Fairfield County for more than a decade. Most importantly, she was the most loving and nurturing mother to her two daughters, Alexis and Marisa, who were her world and best friends. The three of them had an unbreakable bond. Hildegard loved their morning walks, girls' trips, spa weekends, consistent hugs, and quality time.

Hildegard is survived by her two daughters, Alexis and Marisa; father of her children, Bryan Noonan, her mother, Ilse Lathrop; and her five siblings, Monika Roberts, Roswitha Ogden, Heidi Westervelt, Chris Lathrop, and Nadia Lathrop. She also leaves behind many cherished sisters- and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and dear friends. She was predeceased by her father, Kenneth Lathrop.

Funeral Services will take place at 11am directly at Saint Luke's Church, 49 Turkey Hill Rd N, Westport, Connecticut. All other services will be private at the family's request.
