Genevieve Martinson Tucker Obituary

With deep sadness, we share the passing of Genevieve MartinsonTucker, who left this world peacefully on Sunday, February 8, at the age of 96.

Born at Bridgeport Hospital and educated at Norwalk High School and the University of Connecticut, Genevieve dedicated much of her life to service, education, and community. She gave generously of her time through school leadership, scholarship work, and cultural institutions, and later served as the Chairwoman of the Johnson Museum Advisory Board at Cornell University, where her love of art and education came together in meaningful ways.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Richard F. Tucker, who retired as the President of Mobil Oil Company and Vice Chairman of Mobil Corp. Together, they lived a remarkable life of partnership and adventure, traveling to Asia, Africa, the Middle East, Europe, Australia, the South Sea Islands, and her beloved England.

Genevieve made her home in Westport and Fairfield for more than 64 years and enjoyed a home on Nantucket for more than four decades.

An avid reader and passionate art collector, she carried a deep love of learning, beauty, and culture that shaped how she lived and how she gave to the world. Her greatest joy was her family, who were the center of her life.

Genevieve lived with intellect, curiosity, and quiet strength. She will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her.

Genevieve is survived by her daughter, Jocelyn Pearson (Stan), and her son, Jeffrey Tucker (Caroline), and her grandsons, Tucker Pearson, Hunter Pearson, Jack Tucker, and Sam Tucker.
