Mary Elizabeth Barberio, 101, of Fairfield, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family on January 23, 2026.
Born in Plumville, PA, in 1924, Mary moved with her family to Bridgeport at a young age and graduated from Bassick high school there. In 1950, she made her home in Fairfield, where she dedicated many years of her life to her career in the accounts payable department at Harvey Hubble Inc., retiring at the age of 70.
Mary was a lifelong fan of the New York Yankees and cherished time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had a passion for cooking and traveling, creating lasting memories during summers in Martha's Vineyard and trips to Italy and Puerto Rico.
Mary was predeceased by her loving husband, Donald Barberio, in 1982, as well as her parents, Zella and John Myers, and her brothers, Thomas, John, Frank, and Cloyd Myers.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Denise and Jim Honeycutt of Fairfield, her son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Delia Barberio of Wilton, three granddaughters, Jennifer (John Presutto), Marianne (Manuel Santiago), and Taylor Barberio, along with her four great-grandchildren, Brayden, Hailey, Robbie "R.J.", and Luka.
In accordance with her wishes, all services will be held privately, and her ashes will be scattered around Martha's Vineyard, a place she loved dearly. Mary's spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and all those who knew her.
