Peter Gerard Doyle, Sr.

March 12, 1936 – January 11, 2026

Peter G. Doyle, 89, of Naples, Florida, passed away at home peacefully on Sunday, January 11, 2026.

Born in Fairfield, CT to Thomas E. Doyle and Jennie Casey, he lived most of his life in Fairfield and Naples. Peter was the youngest member of an Irish Catholic home with 3 rambunctious brothers: Jack, Tom, and Bob. Peter attended Salisbury School and then Brown University in Providence.

He married a Fairfield girl, Catherine "Kay" "Bunty" Morrison, in June of 1961.

They raised 2 boys together, Peter Gerard, Jr. (Vanessa) and Timothy Michael (Mary), both of Fairfield, Ct, and were married for over 60 years. Peter was a proud grandfather to 5 grandchildren: Alex, McKenzie, Teaghan, Finn, and Casey.

Peter was a serial entrepreneur who started many ventures, including founding Citizens' Bank, commercial real estate investment, and working in local politics. However, Peter's main business was The Doyle Agency, located in downtown Fairfield, Ct, and it was a pillar of the community that provided many local businesses and residents with insurance services. It employed many throughout the years and was a starting place for many careers in the insurance industry.

In 1968, Peter learned how to overcome addiction. He found real satisfaction in being of service in Bill Wilson's community. He celebrated "A day at a time" for 58 years. He helped countless people throughout those years of recovery. He and Kay loved to entertain friends in their home, and he had a dry wit and enjoyed coffee and repartee with family and friends. Peter was an early riser and developed a talent for "the Irish Goodbye". He was a world-traveler who liked to escape the New England winters for Florida and the Caribbean with Kay and his 2 boys.

Peter will be greatly missed by his extended family and by the many friends he made throughout his life. A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 30th, at 11:00 am in First Church Congregational, 148 Beach Road, Fairfield, with a reception to immediately follow in the Gaelic American Club (GAC). All are welcome.

A later service will be held at Naples Heritage Golf and Country Club, 8150 Heritage Club Way, Naples, FL, on Saturday, March 14th, at 11:00 am, with a reception to follow immediately after.
