John Michael Krotki
John Michael Krotki, 63, passed quietly from this world on Friday morning, January 9, 2026, due to complications from pneumonia.
Growing up on South Pine Creek Road in Fairfield, John attended Oldfield School for kindergarten and graduated from Saint Thomas Aquinas School. He was a graduate of Roger Ludlowe High School, Class of 1981. After working at various jobs, including Grand Union and the local Mobil gas station, he returned to school and graduated from Technical Careers Institute (TCI) in West Haven, Connecticut, with certification in Electronic Technology. He continued his education at Eli Whitney Vocational/Technical School in Hamden, Connecticut, with certification as a licensed, low-voltage electrician. John utilized these skills all his life and was a whiz with computers, alarm systems, and audio/visual system installations.
John moved to Acworth, Georgia, in 1994, and worked as an alarm technician for American Alarm Corp. in Alpharetta, Georgia. During the "coffee craze," John had his own mail-order business, "Junk Yard Dog Coffee".
John returned to Fairfield in 2015 to be closer to family and his longtime friends. After his mom's passing in 2018, he relocated to Newtown, Connecticut, with his dogs, Raina and Sammy, where he resided until his passing.
John was a sweet and gentle soul who had a deep love for all animals, especially dogs, and was the best "Dog father" to countless pups, including Sasha, Danan, and Lucy (and their respective litters). He looked on the bright side of life and most always had a smile on his face. If you were lucky enough to be his friend, you were lucky for life. John was a music lover and often shared his favorite tunes along with his funny memes on his Facebook page.
Known endearingly as "Junebug", he was the beloved youngest son of the late Joe and Peggy Krotki. John's memory will be cherished by his family including his siblings, Jim Krotki, and his wife, Debra (Dorne), of Jackson Springs, NC, Karen Benway, and her husband, Alan, of Fairfield, Tom Krotki and his wife, Donna Kuruc of Carmel, NY, and Janet Krotki, and her husband, Shravan Neill, of Ocala, FL. John was pre-deceased recently by his brother Paul, who is survived by his wife, Mary (Andrejko) Krotki of Milford. John loved all his nieces and nephews dearly including Allison Peterman and her husband, Rob, Amanda Parker, and her husband, Josh, Jillian Krotki, Erik Benway, and his wife, Jackie, Matt Benway, and his wife, Alissa, Daniel Krotki and his wife, Stephanie, Jessica Rissolo and her husband, Matt, Nick and Kevin Krotki and Jay Kuruc, as well as his great nieces and nephews Alexandra, Jaxson and Maddyx Parker, Avery and Dylan Benway, Lena, Maya, Graham, and Gigi Benway; Ashlyn and Greyson Krotki and Mikaela and Charlotte Rissolo. John will be fondly remembered by his Aunt Bunny Lengen, and by his cousins Donna (Lengen) Canning and her husband, John, and by Gregory Lengen and his wife, Debra, and their sons, Michael and Daniel. John was pre-deceased by his parents, grandparents, his brother Paul, and Paul's son, his nephew Michael Krotki, and his Uncle John Lengen.
We thank all his longtime, close friends, especially Kim and Lori, who probably knew him better than any of us, and all those who held him dear. Special thanks to cousin Donna for always lending her ear and loving John in her own special way. Special thanks to John's neighbor, Kevin, who cared for Sammy while John was in the hospital. Having lost his own dog recently, Kevin welcomed Sammy into his home for the rest of his life.
Thanks to all the doctors and nurses who tended to John on his many visits to Danbury Hospital, and especially those who cared for John during his last weeks in the critical care unit.
Finally, extra special thanks to all the Town of Newtown Volunteer EMS members who got to know John over the last six years. In lieu of flowers, we request that donations in John's name be directed to Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Association, Inc., PO Box 344, Newtown, Connecticut 06470, or online at their website Newtown Ambulance.
We invite you to join us on Friday, January 23, 2026, from 12.00-2:00 p.m. at the Lesko Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road (The Brick Walk), in Fairfield Center, to honor John and share your memories of him. A prayer service will be held at 1:30 p.m. John's interment will be private.
