Obituary for Louise Kranyik
Louise Nancy (Narkevics) Kranyik of Fairfield, Ct. aged 91, passed peacefully on August 7, 2025. She was the devoted wife of Dr. Robert b. Kranyik (BK) for 59 yrs.
Louise was born in Bridgeport, CT, to parents Jennie and Louis Narkevics. She attended schools in Bridgeport until moving to Fairfield, where she graduated from Roger Ludlow High School.
She was employed by a variety of companies including Puritan
Transportation, Rolock, Partie's Plus, Party Barn and the Aspetuck Bluebird Inn. She also opened and ran a card and gift shop called 'The Cat Ketch', first at Captain's Cove and later on Fairfield Ave. in Black Rock.
The family moved to Easton from Fairfield, where they lived for approximately 40 yrs. In 2023 she moved in with her daughter in Fairfield. Louise was active in the Easton Community where she served as President of the Easton
Garden Club and was deeply engaged in the effort to preserve Trout Brook Valley. She also served as Co-President with her husband on the Notre Dame of Easton Lay Board, was a member of the Board of Citizens for Easton, and an honorary member of Fayerweather Yacht Club. For many years she bowled with friends from both Easton and Fairfield.
She was a skilled and enthusiastic gardener whose beautiful perennial gardens at her home in Easton were admired by many. She also maintained a life-long love affair with cats and had many throughout, including several calicos whose name was always 'Kali'.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Louise Kranyik and her husband, George J. Woods, of Fairfield, and one granddaughter, Meri Kathryn O'Connor, of Los Angeles, CA and several nieces and nephews.
A mass will be held on Tuesday, August 26, 2025 at 10:30 at Holy Cross Church, 750 Tahmore Drive, Fairfield. Interment will follow immediately at Aspetuck Cemetery, 378 Black Rock Tpke. Easton. Arrangements were made by Lesko Funeral Home in Fairfield.
