Obituary of Doreen Marie Paraska
Please share a memory of Doreen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Doreen M. Best Paraska ("Mom"), age 69, of Fairfield, CT, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 28th, surrounded by loved ones at St. Vincent's Hospital in Bridgeport.
Born on June 1, 1956, she was the beloved daughter of the late John and Lillian Best. Doreen loved deeply and lived for connection—always sharing stories from her life and honoring the memories of those who came before her. Though she had many joys, nothing meant more to her than spending time with family. She adored animals and found endless happiness in spoiling her beloved fur-kids, Trevor and Silo, and her cherished cat Moo Moo, who passed in October 2024. Her warm spirit, holiday traditions, and love for hosting will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
She was predeceased by her husband, John D. Paraska, who passed in February 2000.
Doreen is survived by her devoted daughters, Renee Vieira and Danielle Patton, who were the center of her world, and her treasured grandson, Dennis Ferrer, the light of her life. She also leaves behind her loving sons-in-law, Benjamin Vieira and Todd Patton, whom she welcomed with an open heart.
A proud, longtime resident of Fairfield, Doreen found comfort and joy in the familiar charm of her hometown and the community she held dear. She is also survived by her brothers, John and Joey Best, her nephew, cousins, in-laws, and many lifelong friends and extended family who loved her deeply.
A graveside service will take place on Monday, July 14, 2025, at 11:00 am at Mountain Grove Cemetery in Bridgeport. A private memorial will be held to celebrate Doreen's life, strength, and the boundless love she gave.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to Bridgeport Cat Rescue, the shelter where she found and rescued her best friend, Moo Moo.
